Holkham Hall was built in the 1720s for Thomas Coke, 1st Earl of Leicester. The palatial interiors are by William Kent and are incredible. Coke was part of Lord Burlington’s circle and Holkham represents perhaps the grandest of all Palladian country house schemes. It is still home to the Coke (pronounced Cook) family today.
Holkham Hall has all four wings instead of Keddleston Hall which was not completely finished and has only two wings.
